چکیده

Triggers (active rules) bring domain-specific reactive behavior to databases. Traditional Event-Condition-Action triggers use only crisp concepts. In this paper, fuzzy triggers are proposed whereby approximate reasoning may be integrated with a traditional crisp database. The new approach paves the way for intuitive expression of application semantics of imprecise nature in database-bound applications. Several levels of applying fuzzy concepts to triggers are proposed. Fuzzy propositions may be incorporated, as elementary predicates, in Boolean trigger conditions. A significant improvement of the condition expression power is achieved by encapsulating a set of fuzzy rules into a Boolean-valued function called the rule set function. Subsequently, actions are expressed also in fuzzy terms, in a trigger model. Examples are provided to illustrate how fuzzy triggers can be applied to a real-life drive control system in an industrial installation. Espoo, November 1996

Fuzzy Triggers: Incorporating Imprecise Reasoning into Active Databases

Traditional Event-Condition-Action triggers (active database rules) include a Boolean predicate as a trigger condition. We propose fuzzy triggers whereby fuzzy inference is utilized in the condition evaluation. This way, approximate reasoning may be integrated with a traditional crisp database. The new approach paves the way for intuitive expression of application semantics of imprecise nature,...

The fuzzy logic based ECA rule processing for XML databases

Current needs of E-Commerce transactions require the development of XML database system like relational database systems. Fuzzy concepts are adapted to the field of XML Databases (DB) in order to deal with ambiguous and uncertain data. Incorporating fuzziness into Event Condition Action (ECA) rules would improve the effectiveness of XML DB as it provides much flexibility in defining rules for t...

Design and Implementation of TEMPO Fuzzy Triggers

Fuzzy triggers are database triggers incorporating fuzzy concepts. The approach leads to the application of approximate reasoning to trigger-based decision making. In C-fuzzy triggers, fuzzy rules may be specified in the trigger condition part. The C-fuzzy trigger model is presented, and an implementation thereof in the TEMPO Server—a prototype active database system—is described. The performan...

Using an Adaptive Fuzzy Logic System to Optimise Knowledge Discovery in Proteomics

The growth of biomedical databases has seen a demand for data mining techniques to efficiently and effectively analyse the data contained within. One important consideration is the need to include expert’s opinions within the knowledge discovery process. However, this can be difficult to accomplish when such heuristics are presented in loosely defined, fuzzy terms. We present the use of an Adap...

A Rough Set Based Fuzzy Inference System for Mining Temporal Medical Databases

The main objective of this research work is to construct a Fuzzy Temporal Rule Based Classifier that uses fuzzy rough set and temporal logic in order to mine temporal patterns in medical databases. The lower approximation concepts and fuzzy decision table with the fuzzy features are used to obtain fuzzy decision classes for building the classifier. The goals are pre-processing for feature selec...
